Deputyship

Experienced Deputyship Solicitors

We understand that life planning is very important to everyone. Our teams work with you as life changes and significant events occur. Whether in your twenties or in retirement the unexpected can happen to us all and sometimes, due to the busy pace of today’s life or the hope that “it won’t happen to us”, we have not managed to put the necessary things in place to allow those people that we trust to assist us when we need them the most.

If someone you know, love or care for has become incapable of managing their property and financial affairs, and they have not made either a Lasting or Enduring Power of Attorney, we can assist with an application to the Court of Protection for the appointment of a Deputy to manage those affairs.  This could be an application to appoint you as a family member or friend, but in the case that there is no one that would want such a responsibility, then our Partners can make the application and be appointed as a Deputy.

If you are already appointed as a Deputy by the Court of Protection and need advice and assistance with the duties and function of a Deputy, including preparation and submission of the annual report, our dedicated and experienced team are able to help as much or as little as required.

Podcast

Our 'Planning for your Future' podcast series discusses, in everyday language, how planning can help you navigate your way through the ups and downs of life and how getting your affairs in place now can assist your loved ones’ future responsibilities.

In this episode, Partner & Head of Private Client, Dhruva Patel, talks in detail about Deputyship, including what it means and when it may be needed.
