“May I take this opportunity to thank you for your assistance throughout this matter, we are most grateful for the attention that you’ve given to the estate and her wonderful legacy to us.”
The individual who died had left her estate between five charities. The partners of Berry & Lamberts were instructed as the named Executors responsible for administering her estate. Her affairs were complex and included a property, numerous bank accounts and a large portfolio of shareholdings. There was firstly a considerable amount of investigative work carried out in order to ascertain details of all of the assets of the estate as the deceased had left copious amounts of paperwork which needed to be sorted and identified.
The relevant Inheritance Tax exemptions needed to be applied for to claim the tax reliefs available to the charities. The capital assets also needed to be appropriated to the relevant charities prior to sale in order to avoid Capital Gains Tax falling due.
The charities in question ultimately each received approximately £150,000 from the estate and were grateful for the assistance the firm had provided.
