We acted for father in connection to a very difficult and long-running situation which had given rise to four sets of proceedings over a three to four year period relating to child arrangements. There were multiple hearings in both this current part of the (overall) case and the three previous sets of proceedings to date. The two children of our client’s relationship with mother, who had remained living with her, had been allegedly subjected to abusive behaviours including inadequate healthcare, neglect and emotionally, verbally and physically abusive treatment in the past, necessitating referrals to the police and social services.
It was also said that they were now being deliberately alienated from father by way of their face to face contact and phone and screen time contacts being minimised in terms of quantity and quality. There were allegations of drug taking and mental instability against the mother. The case was sufficiently complex so as to necessitate the appointment of a guardian and thus separate representation for the children and, the appointment of a psychologist to investigate the adults’ relationship and interactions.
